Cathleen Schandelmeier-Bartels wrote and produced "Sandy & The Circus" for Earth Day, Chicago, in 1993. The music is by Jeff Shivar with lyrics by Schandelmeier and Shivar. It was originally directed by Michael Gellman in a performance at Grant Park in 1993. This production toured street festivals and schools for 7 years with help from a grant from the Illinois Arts Council. This particular version of the play is unusual because it took place inside of a theater - at the Mary-Arrchie Theater Company at Angel Island in Chicago, IL during the Abbie Hoffman Died for Our Sins Festival in 1999.
